Ok, so I am going to attempt to blog about me finishing 2013 living according to the four goals, or int his case, agreements Ive made with myself to redesign my life.
And they are (in no particular order):
1. Establish my homestead
2. Launch my business and quit my job
3. Train for strength and speed
4. Strengthen my marriage
I will be blogging on what i did each day for these each of these 4 agreements.
Today, I:
Picked up the bedroom and bedroom closet, did laundry and all the dishes.
Logged into morning mastermind call
Completed day 27 of PLP challenge
Gave hubby a long kiss goodnight and let him know I missed him during the day.
Tomorrow my goals are to:
Finish the laundry and pick up the living room, start buttermilk culture, buy chicken quarters and lettuce for lunches
Listen and take notes of a live seller call webinar and listen to a chapter of The Slight Edge
Celebration with hubby and play a video game
Complete cycle 1, week 3 of 5/3/1 training (205 deadlift with at least 3 reps, and 70 OHP with at least 3 reps)
I can DO THIS!

Entering my Jesus Year (33 years old)
So...in less than a half hour (as Im writing this), I will be turning 33 years old. This, in recent pop culture is being referred to as "The Jesus Year". I like this term and I find it endearing because I can identify with what its supposed to mean.
I feel like Ive been in this weird limbo. Not happy with where i am, knowing what I dont want from where Ive been and knowing what I have to do to get where I believe Im called to be. People have been blogging and taking their Jesus Year in various ways. The shared theme is that your Jesus Year is the time to manifest what you are....and what you are supposed to be doing with your life.
This is me. I am bursting with changes that I need to make in my life and up until now, Ive played with it. But now is really the time to manifest.
And this is with everything in my life....business wise, financially, relationally, spiritually, mentally, physically, everything.
A little bit earlier tonight, I asked myself just what and where do I want to be exactly one year from now. I thought about it and all the while, I kept telling myself, "This is possible, it is ALL possible." I have to stop thinking the things I want to birth in my life are most likely not going to happen. They can happen just because I WANT them to happen.
I've written them down.
I've visualized them.
I've spoken them out loud and to others.
I've planned for them.
Now its time to make them happen.
So yea. This is my Jesus Year. I welcome it. I'm thankful God allowed me to see it. I'm thankful that Jesus took his own "Jesus Year" seriously. I want to do the same.
Ok, so I know that anything I plan for can and will change but this is where and what I want to be exactly one year from now.
-fulltime real estate investor
-still happily married to my husband
-newly pregnant with our first child
-all debt paid off
-have celebrated our 9th anniversary in Anguilla
-celebrating my 34th birthday in a posh hotel either in our home city, a chocolate city (Atlanta?), or island (PR or DR?)
-own a puppy
-have a thriving container garden
-still volunteering with the club
-completed(ing) a permaculture design course
-be at least on intermediate strength for lifting
This is kind of a short list, but yea.
*deep breath* My Jesus Year starts now.

A poem/letter of sorts to my future unborn....
Im not pregnant, but i wrote this back in 2009 and it still applies to how i feel today:
I want to be pregnant
I am so tired of watching people having their babies...baby after baby while I WAIT
I wait and i wait and I wait
Im in such a NON-RUSH that i feel like im going backwards
how much longer do I have to wait
why cant i do the things that will hasten this process?
I hate waiting, i must admit
but Lord, i promise that if i get pregnant, i will cherish that process
Loving the fact that i would be carrying a life inside me, growing everyday
every craving, every mood swing, every inch of growth would be because im bringing a new life into this world
i cant even imagine
i feel like fainting just from the happiness and unbelievability of it
what does it feel like to BE such a vessel?
knowing that every bite of food i eat, every thing that i drink, each second of rest that i get, every breath that i take would be in contribution to growing a human being
WOW
is this just something most women take for granted?
how do they get through the day knowing they carry such an important task?
I would be freaked out about everything
and yet i know that babies grow despite of us
but WOW, to know that you are growing a life....a life.....A NEW LIFE and that in mere months you will bring them into this world...AAAAH, THAT is AWESOME
God is so good to give this ability to us women...and that potentially one day, I COUD BE THAT WOMAN
I will be given that ability to create and grow a life.
To be the incubator of the future
To rub my belly, smile, inwardly speak to my baby and plan. TO PLAN A LIFE!
I know that even the things I do right now are helping to plan and mold that life
but it seems soooo far off,...so unrealistic....i cant wrap my mind around it
all i know is that I want to live a certain life for my babies.
I want to BE there for my babies and that includes shaping my life in such a way that I have the flexibility and ability to do that
and thas why I am waiting
I am waiting to give my babies a brighter day than I had
to give my babies all of me and to show them the world, the way I wish someone had showed me
i know they are waiting on me. I hear them whispering about me when i try to sleep at night
they hover over my womb waiting for the chance to enter
but I let them know that they will be able to come and if they HAVE to come now, to come
but i want them to have the better life
so i show them in my dreams...my vision of us together
us lying in the bed together and waking up when we're done sleeping
cooking them good, whole, nutritious food and going for walks and shopping and playing
morning and afternoon naps on daddy's chest and sniff sniff sniffs from the dog
quiet mornings listening to daddy snore while we munch on muffins and drink milk waiting for the sun to rise
sunny, shiney days out at the farmer's market with you slinged on my chest or back or runnin and fun playing out in the yard or park with the puppy, our laughter belting the air
learning you, learning me
do i have a romantic view of us, of our possible future life?
i might, hard times will come too, but i want those as well
you crying on my chest or fussin at me or me fussing at you in the morning because the bed snuggles too fine
sniffles and tears while I sort out your fluffy, cottony, coily, curly hair when you'd rather be playing or romping around the house
falls, bumps, bruises..admonishments, disciplining, and frustration will come
as we try to learn each other as we live our life
scary tragedies and even spirit breaking losses may even come
but we will have each other, we will be together, some how, some way
and i am here, because i am your yeye
You can trust in me to ease your fears, to comfort you, to hold you and to keep you warm and sheltered
You can trust in me to tell me your dreams, to help them come true, to treasure your smile and to work hard to show you love at all times
I will love your daddy hard and at all times, to show you that marriage is glorious
we're building for you
a happy mama and daddy, who love themselves, love their lives, are healthy and prosperous to bring as many cocoa babies into our lives as we can
to shape and to mold and to share and to love
To love
I want to love you more than anything
And that starts now
But Lord knows I wish you were already in my belly
so that i can start lavishing my love on you
I want to sing you songs and rock my hips and rub my belly to answer your kicks, hiccups, and rolls
I want to see the pride in your daddy's eyes and his excited anticipation when we realize our labor and birth journey has finally begun with THAT contraction
I am so tired of waiting....I can hardly wait for you
I cant wait to find out what you are about
But alas im still here..communication with you from another world
You will be here soon one day
Until then, i will keep building
Building the life in which we will thrive
Because one day soon...I wont have to wait no longer
You will be here in my arms
and I will cry and laugh in disbelief and awe
Then the record of life will be pressed on fast forward and i will say
SLOW DOWN! lol and wish that I could rewind and stop everything from going by too fast
but until then, I wait.
I want to be pregnant

So how's things going?
Things are good here, me thinks. Just had a really great Thanksgiving dinner that I whipped up (and am STILL eating on 3 days later lol). I'm hoping that this time next year will be drastically different in that i will be self employed fulltime, newly preggers and maybe not cooking the entire meal but visiting fam or friends for the holiday and just relaxing and basking my newfound glow (cue singing birds and hopping bunny rabbits lol). I get overwhelmed with everything I have to do between then and now so I try not to ruminate on it so much lol.
As far as my eating plan, its been going ok, but I could step it up. Ive been taking the 2 brazil nuts a day, lots of raw milk and grass-fed butter, i had sardines last week and ive been taking half my magnesium supplement dose that i need about daily (i suck at swallowing pills so this is huge for me lol). Ive been keeping the chicken broth coming, pastured meats and an egg a day (sorta). But ive been slipping on going to the gym (*cough* havent gone yet*cough*), getting my fish, cod liver oil, chicken liver, oysters and salmon roe in and doing my daily quiet/prayer time. But hey, everyday is a new day to try again right?
But I gotta get serious about this baby stuff, Im now 32 and truly, really, i REALLY wanna be pregnant or at least trying by this time next year. FA SERIOUS. My biological clock isnt ticking, it has exploded already lol.
There has been a small baby book in my dept at work and its been kinda awkward to watch these ladies get pregnant, go through pregnancy, have their babies, go on maternity leave and show off their babies and then return. One lady in particular i felt severely...i dunno...jealous of, i dunno and i dont even really talk to her like that but for some reason, when she came in with her husband and newborn i was HIGHLY umcomfortable...like wanted to go cry uncomfortable. Maybe I was ovulating, i dunno. But that SUCKED. I dont need to be jealous of anyone...anything that they have, I can have and then some, i know that. But LAWD my ovaries were PISSED! lol Like, I dont even wanna be around a newborn or hold a newborn, or even give the precious pennies I have away for someone else's baby shower (that im not close with anyway). The way ive reasoned it is the only baby I wanna coo over, cradle and support with my monies IS MY OWN BABY. PERIOD. That sounds really nasty and petty dont it? But thas how I feel. Dont get me wrong, im really happy for these women, they are my age (which probably makes me feel even more a way about it lol), they are lovely women and their babies are gorgeous, but someone who has literally been in baby lust FOR YEARS, I have little patience for celebrating others' bundles of joy. Im hoping this changes once we have our own, cause WOOO, i feel like a b****! lol Smh.
Any other Pre-TTCers go through this?

Get prepared
Thas what dropped into my spirit today. Sounds woo-woo, but I'm a believer so, yea lol. Sooooo, let me go ahead and drop in my fertility eating plans so I at least know where to go when I need to be reminded.
I'm a planner by default and a preparer anyway but this motherhood thing is like THE tallest mountain. Like, tryna fathom bringing another human being in this world through my body is THE most surreal, out of this world thing I can imagine. But yet, I am SO ready to do it.
So, here I am, on the cusp, as it were. We aren't ready to start trying TONIGHT (well, he is but I aint lol) but like i said, I need to get ready, cause hey, I cant plan EVERYTHING. ;)
My usual diet is pretty clean in that I try to limit processed foods, IF im in the grocery store, I shop the parameter, but I usually shop at the farmer's market and straight from the farm. I dont subscribe to the ever popular Lipid Hypothesis, so i eat pretty high fat, including lots of animal fats. So for the fertility eating, its very high fat, very fish rich, organ meat rich, rich in general because basically I am building the nutrient stores that my baby will conceive and begin grow in.
Preconception care and planning in the US is just starved (literally and figuratively) but if you look to any other country and traditional culture in the world, they do THE MOST to prepare a couple to conceive including saving some of the most sacred foods for them to eat in order to conceive. Those foods include foods from the sea, organ meats (think liver, heart, kidney, etc), and full fat dairy and eggs during the high grass season in the spring. Some cultures would not even let a couple marry until this particular time of year JUST so that they could be shored up with eating these things in time to marry. Even if the tribe was land locked, they would travel and barter and negotiate with sea faring tribes for the coveted seafood.
So I am MOST definitely gonna get my eat on. Along with creating a great environment to creating a baby, some lifestyles changes will also help. Of COURSE keeping fit is numero uno behind a great diet in building a healthy baby as well as keeping my health going once I do conceive. SOOO many women either dont work out or STOP working out once they begin TTCing because they been told or believe that that would hurt the baby. NOT SOOO! I can go on about this but, keeping fit is KEY (also, Kegels are not the end all, be all, ladies). Also keeping stress down (you got to pray just to make it today! lol), minimizing environmental toxins (Mr. Clean is NOT the business!), and possibly taking supplements (prenatals are ok, but are mostly peed out lol. Whole food, slow releasing supplements are a bit better.) are also super important.
Anywho, here I go, here's my eating plan on the road to TTCing:
homemade chicken broth daily
homemade milk kefir daily
green salad w/veggies with plenty of EVOO (for vitamin E) based dressing daily
chicken liver mousse (shouts out to Julia Child) at least twice a week
coconut oil fudge piece daily (yum!)
fermented Cod liver oil daily (at least a teaspoon)
Brazil nuts ONLY 1 or 2 each day for selenium
Lemon juice, fresh squeezed, 1 tsp. in every glass of water or smoothie (cleansing and ph balancing)
Raw local honey, 1 Tbls at bedtime.
1 egg a day at least (WITH the yolk, runny please, yum!)
Red Raspberry Leaf Infusions, 1 cup per day.
Nettle Leaf Infusions (i'll probably change this to Red clover once ready to conceive), 1 cup per day.
Wild Alaskan Salmon, at least once a week.
Sardines in olive oil at least once a week
Oysters at least once a week
Fresh clams at least once a month
lots of grass-fed butter (preferably raw)
lots of grass-fed cream (preferably raw) - can you say ICE CREAM! lol
lots of raw milk
some grass-fed cheese (preferably raw)
consume salmon roe at least once every couple weeks
sweetbreads (organ meats) when I can
grass-fed/pastured meats (beef, chicken, pork, lamb, turkey)
filtered water
Some environmental/lifestyle changes needed are
GET MY BUTT BACK IN THE DANGED GYM! lol - if i do this right, I can be gorgeous in time for bikini season lol
Epsom salt baths for the sulfate once a week
filtered shower and bath tub faucets
daily prayer/quiet time
magnesium supplements (supposedly also reduces body order and deepens your sleep!)
folate supplement (cause i know im not gonna eat perfect)
Ok, so I think thas it, as far as the road to motherhood goes. I hope I can incorporate all of this and keep it up until we are ready to try! (hopefully by this time next year, yikes! lol)

Im back!
So yea, the 30 days of blogging didnt work out, i guess i just need to get in the habit of blogging period, so maybe I will do that at another time.
At any rate, Ive been kinda in the rut as far as my baby bucket goals....i mean, ive been working on my business, but not really, i havent been tot he gym since before my last post (boooo!) and i havent started my sourdough starter (looking to start this weekend).
But say all this to say, hubby basically is like...baby ready. Basically, he let it be known that he's waiting on me. So now what do I do? Its like i get reminded about this every few months and then i feels like my life is NO WHERE NEAR READY.
But really, the only thing I want in place before a TTCing for a baby is getting my business profitable. I NEED to know that I can make my own money because ONCE I become pregnant, i fully plan on leaving corporate america. I cant imagine being pregnant, let alone the dreaded 1st trimester!, and dealing with stresses, frustrations, and silliness of working for someone else. I KNOW that people all around the world do this all day everyday but *I* dont want to be one of them lol. There are/were pregnant ladies in my office, hell im covering for one right now until she returns from maternity leave. There have been an odd amount of preterm and even STILL birth going on and i wonder if our work environment has anything to do with that. My job SAYS that they support families, but we JUST got a dedicated lactation room and there is still no real maternity OR paternity leave...you just have to take short term disability (since when is birthing a child a disability?). Then once they drop the baby, they get bothered here and there while they are out on maternity leave and more often than not, these women come back early out of fear or...whatever from leave only to plop their beautiful baby at home with whomever or in the nearest daycare to start the hectic life of juggling corporate america and family life (cause the two SUCK in America at blending well). There are some that do this dance seemlessly and every parenting while working choice has its advantages and drawbacks, I just so happen to like the drawbacks of being self-employed better than working in corporate america.
Sooo yea, here I am, broody with nowhere to go, lol. I gotta get in the gym, i gotta start eating better, I gotta relieve my stress and I gotta become profitable at my biz. That is the order for the rest of 2011. Hopefully, this time next year, we will have a lil mtoto hanging out in my belly :D

Anyway, i thought i'd participate in this 30 day blog challenge that is going around to get me in the habit of blogging because i think it would be really beneficial to me and to the future me to see how far Ive come. Anyway, here's what to expect:

Day 2 – A photo of something you ate today.
Day 3 – Your idea of the perfect first date.
Day 4 – Your favorite photograph of your best friend.
Day 5 – A photo of yourself two years ago.
Day 6 – A photo of an animal you’d love to keep as a pet.
Day 7 – Your dream wedding.
Day 8 – A song to match your mood.
Day 9 – A photo of the item you last purchased.
Day 10 – A photo of your favorite place to eat.
Day 11 – What’s in your makeup bag?

Day 30 – A photograph of yourself today + three good things that have happened in the past 30 days.
Just a quick update on things with me, im still working my 9 to 5, pushing everyday with that, tryna keep the household running. I fell off from the gym so i gotta get back on that. Ive been falling off with cooking, so i DEFINITELY need to get back on that. But ive been making new friends with a local meetup group in my area, so thas a positive, ew thing that im doing. Also, ive been trying to visualize my life how I would it to be in the future and im doing my best to LIVE what i want to happen now. Im finally growing my hair out, decided to leave the barber alone, even tho she's great, and since hubby likes her, he may go back for beard trips, so i may use her for eyebrow maintenance, until i get better at it lol. There's a possible family reunion happening in South Carolina next summer for my family so I'd like to attend that (we shall see). Oh and sometime between now and the end of this year, we are gonna try and make our way to AZ to visit my in laws (another we shall see).
Anywho, ON with the 30 day blogging challenge! lol

Spotlight on baby bucket list item: Launch business
So I figured that since I put up my baby bucket list, i could elaborate on the things that are on the list and why I included them.
So the item that I am spotlighting today is launch my business. To me, this is one of the most important items on my list....in fact, its one of the requisite items there. I'm not going to go into what my business is (if you wanna know that, im blogging about it here) but instead i want to talk about why I deem it so important.
So yea, i included launching my own business on my baby bucket list primarily because I want to be a WAHM (work at home mom)...and moreover a WAH family. I dont want to have to deal with paltry maternity leaves and expensive daycare and being sad all day at work while i miss my baby and hoping that the daycare provider I hired treats my baby well while Im away and having to choose between my career and family all the time and on and on and on. I am very much a proponent of doing for yourself instead of flitting from job to job hoping that someone else will pay you for the lifestyle you want.
I want to be able to create, maintain and pass on a legacy to my children and hopefully grandchildren and to me a job does not do that. My views may seem particularly strong on this issue because other than being on my baby bucket list, launching my own business is just one of my life goals, period. I guess I just feel particularly resentful of the whole go to school, get good grades, graduate college, work a job until you die (cause there really is no such thing as retirement from a job) paradigm. Its been proven over and over that it doesnt work and I want to show my children better things (this commercial illustrates the way i feel perfectly lol)
So yea, if you'd like to hear more of my beautiful rantings on that you can visit my other blog, but that is why I have it on my bucket list. I'd like to have it up and running before we TTC so that should we be so blessed to conceive sooner than later, I can leave my job. Also, launching my business is a huge part of my financial preparations for having a family.
What are your financial goals for TTCing? Are they included on your baby bucket list?

My baby bucket list
So one of the things us baby-over-planners like to do is have a baby bucket list set up to help guide use along the road to pregnancy/motherhood. A baby bucket list is a list of all the things you want to experience and/or accomplish before you become pregnant with a baby. This is PERFECT for planners so that we can proudly check things off the list as we go....makes us feel accomplished and all that lol.
I'm going to start mine here. Keep in mind this list could be and has been much longer than it is and some of the items may be 'like-to's" (noted by a '*') than actual requirements of mine.
My Baby Bucket list (in no certain order)
Launch business
Pay off back taxes
Pay off car loan
Pay off credit cards
save baby fund and/or emergency fund
Get physically fit (become a lifting goddess YES! lol)
Shore up nutritional stores(up the FCLO, folate supplement, veggies and protein in general)
Get a puppy*
Read more black history/literature books*
establish a home church
make some new friends*
establish consistent bible study/prayer/devotion life with the Lord
strengthen marriage
I believe that if i at least make headway on each of these things through thr second half of this year, I will be well on my way to TTCing next July! Im so excited!

Hey there
Im up really late, but im on vacation so its cool lol. At any rate, im still kicking over here tho sadly nothin much has changed since my almost year old last update. Still broke, still no babies, still working, etc etc etc.
But now things are a slightly different.
I'm fed up with waiting. Im sick and tired of being sick and tired.
So I have given myself a deadline. TTCing by July 2012 or not at all. PERIOD. So basically, im giving myself the next 12 months to get my act together. And this can start tomorrow if I want to as I have a networking event to attend so that I can get the contacts I need to get my biz jumping.
Why this new resolve seeing as ive been baby lusting since 2006?
Well, its like this. I am slowly realizing that the life im living while is nice, is not the life I want. PERIOD. And to get the life I want, im gonna have to get uncomfortable. Im comfortable and I cant remain comfortable to bring about change.
Im tired of watching all my peers (and younger) creating the families they want. Cute lil babies left and right taunt me when i log onto my Facebook. My husband is pretty babyfied right now thanks to his SAHD friends who have been egging him on. His best friend and his wife still arent pregnant yet (that we know of), but im sure once that happens, all reproductive hell will break loose lol.
Im just tired. And being on this vacation for the last week has shown me just how tired ive become. Living my life the way I want to day to day has been darn near orgasmic. I cant believe how much better I feel and how much stuff I have the energy to do now that im home instead of up in a cold, stressful office all day. Not say that the stress factor wont rise at home once i get my biz going, but it will be MY stress. The stress that will get me free. And that I can and will live with, naamean?
Anywho, so yea...July 2012..I plan to be be baby dancing with the hubster. If he had his way, we'd baby dance now and he'd be SAHD galore, but, I cannt see myself leaving my baby all day, even if they are home with hubby (no offense to the WOHM's out there, ya'll rock!).
Now I just have to work backwards. Ive made a list of things that need to happen between now and July 2012, so that's a good starting point. Making it to this networking event tomorrow night is the next. Sigh, pray for me ya'll.
Baby steps, right? Heh. Right!

Fertility and reaching your dreams
I have to remember to post everyday (my goal) cause stuff happens and then i tend to forget about it for a few days when I actually meant to post it up. ANYWHO, lol
So today, i had my annual (only i was long over due, so it was more than an annual lol) gynecological exam or Pap Smear for those who are more inclined. I looked up my new doc online and she got rave reviews so I figured why not. Ladies....., come in close for a second....what IS it about us that we gotta PREPARE for the gyno like we do? Yes, i did everything, made sure my legs were freshly shaved, made sure the star of the day was freshly groomed, lol, diligently held my pee just in case they wanted me to pee in a cup (some gynos do the requisite pregnancy test, whether you think you're pregnant or not) and even did the "Fold my clothes neatly on the chair" thing when it was time to change into the gown, lol. I just think its funny the lengths us women go through to make sure we and everyone else involved are comfortable, lol.
Thankfully, this gyno was just as advertised, professional, prompt, quick even (the actual pap smear lasted less than 60 seconds, i tell you!) and thorough. She complimented my previous doctor's good surgical skills on my breast lumpectomy scars (yes, ladies continue to do your self breast exams PLEASE) and she even had warmed instruments which was thoughtful.
The ONLY thing i didnt appreciate, though i figure she had to mention it, was that she gave me the whole "You're turning 31 next month, so don't wait too long to have babies because fertility declines as we age...yatta yatta yatta" SIGH. Like, really?! LAWD. Way to ease on the pressure, Doc. *insert sarcastic thumbs up here*
Hubby and I of COURSE want kids. It doesn't make it any easier that Ive essentially been baby lusting since, oh about, 2006 or so and now ALL of our peers are up and getting pregnant. But there is a little thing called financial stability that we absolutely will NOT budge on. And right now with hubby looking for work, us paying down debt and me being the ONLY source of regular income in the household, having a baby seems like THE most irresponsible thing we could do. To us, it would be like someone on food stamps going out and buying a Lexus. Only the Lexus gets more and more expensive as time goes on. i dunno, bad analogy, but ya'll know what I mean. But I didn't and I wasn't going to break that down to Doc, i just nodded my head and let her know that I understood.
Are we PURPOSEFULLY tryna wait until my fertility is about gone?! NO, we AREN'T tryna wait at all! If we had the funds/financial security right now, I think we'd go for it, cause i mean, im about to turn 31 and hubby will turn 34 in March. Yea, he is entering his mid 30's now. I hope that this birthday hits him hard, but it probably won't, lol. Hubby has a tainch (yes, a TAINCH, thas country for a little bit lol) of baby fever, he really gets it when he sees a cute lil kid on tv or even in real life nearby. But i think he'll REALLY get it when his best friend and his wife finally conceive. They've told hubby that they are planning to start trying in the next year. But see, they are THE PICTURE of financial stability. They have a house, the husband is a dentist and the wife works in hospital admin, they have a beautifully affordable house here in Texas and the only debt besides their house is their student loans. Look, i know I need to quit counting folks money and concentrate on my own. Hubby and I are trying...but lawd, i dunno. At this rate it feels like we'll never get to that point. Hubby does have a good idea about selling his Bronco and then using the funds to get us ahead and then buying a cheaper reliable car. Im a little skeptical, but if he feels its a good move, I trust him. And frankly, i DONT want to be in this financial position this time next year (and ive made moves to help ensure this).
Ideally, i want to start trying to conceive when i have enough passive income from my real estate biz to at least cover rent and utilities. That would also mean we would have a cushion in the bank and be in good position to get a house to live in of our own, if we so choose (and right now, im good, we LOVE our apartment, but we know babies may not lol). I also would like a dog first and for a long time i had my heart set on a purebred Airedale, but ive been slowly trying to let go of that idea, because i want hubby to be involved in choosing the dog as well, so im thinking towards the end of this year, we may roll down to our local rescue and see what's up.
Anyway, this post is entirely too long and i still havent covered everything I wanted to cover (is it cool to post more than once a day...do people get annoyed by that? hmmm...), but I think i'll stop here.

Trying new things
Soooo, how about i got stood up this past Monday night on my first weeknight out in years!? lol It makes me laugh but it wasn't as harsh as it sounds, but lawd.
So my coworkers are heavy into the whole "Hey, let's go out and do this, this and this." type thing. I've never been one to hang with coworkers outside of work, basically because i feel like i spend way too much of my life at work, so why would i wanna HANG with the very people i see everyday, all day, right?
BUT, these coworkers are generally a little cooler than those in the past, so i figured WHY NOT. I had a coworker ask me out to hang at a local blues/soul food spot here in town and i figured I would take her up on it, especially since the cover charge was cheap, lol. So i get all gussied up and head out to the spot, feeling all proud that im essentially now up past my lil bedtime to go have a good time with my coworker in a new spot I could eventually bring hubby too.
I get there in GREAT time, had a real easy time finding the place and even got a decent parking spot (there was only street parking).
Now, background is needed here....my phone all day that day was dying and needed to be charged. So, after i got off work, i promptly plugged it in, because since it was dying, i was unable to save my coworker's phone number in my phone, but she tried to call my phone anyway, so i could at least have her phone number for that night. Bet. I leave for the place, my phone is all charged up, but what i did not know was that even tho my phone is charged, you have to turn the "radio" on, so that it reestablishes its connection so you can call and text out. I didnt realize this until i got to the spot and tried to text the hubby that i made it and it told me the radio was off. Ok cool, turn the radio on. In floods these text messages from my coworker basically telling me that her friends flaked on her and that we would do the blues spot another Monday. But how bout the texts were sent literally MINUTES after i had arrived at the place! lol So i hit her back on some, Im here, what's up? She feels bad and offers to come out herself anyway, but i tell her not to go through the trouble, it was late and i would just roll home. As a consolation, she bought me breakfast the next day. That was decent of her.
So yea, that was the exciting start to my week. I feel like an old empty nester or some such who hasnt been out in years and got stood up by her younger, hipper coworker, lol. In the back of my mind, i think i got stood up because I let her know that i dont drink. I mean, i'll sip on some wine here and then, but, nah, i dont get down alcohol wise. She literally gaffawed at me and asked if I was allergic, lol. So yea, me thinks that she wasnt siced to hang out with a square like me, lol. Im prolly putting too much on it, but yea, lol.
At any rate, today is hump Wednesday and im hyped, because i have my own 3 day weekend this weekend. Im taking a sick day from work on Monday to visit the old hoo hoo doctor ...the gyno, lol. Im way overdue, but yea, its not pleasant and i have too many sick days, so i figured hey, take the day off, do it up, lol. Ima try and pamper myself the rest of the day and errything.
Plus, i need this weekend to retool my goals. Summer is FINALLY over (not that i hate summer or anything but its been a suckey one for us this year), Autumn is officially here (er, well, at 11:09pm tonight it will be here lol). I got some folks i need to touch base with, i have some real foods to reup on, and if i have any funds, i need to get on buying me some weights as we sold ours (yea, it was a BAD summer :^\ ).

*Dusts blog off* Well,hello there!
*cough* *cough* Lord, I certainly have been gone for a long while, lol. Didnt mean for that to happen, but OMG, i feel sorry for the handful of folks that may have been looking at this blog, lol. I really hate it when bloggers i follow or just like for that matter, leave for extended amounts of time. Im always like, 'HEY, just close your blog if you dont wanna write in it, GEEZ!" lol
Now, look at me, been gone for...*squints*, well, over a year, lol. Well, here I am, im alive, im kicking, no babies (yet), but we have moved (yay!) but still on the broke side (booo!) and the business hasn't started just yet (but Im laying the foundation right this time).
At any rate, just to reintroduce myself, Im a 30 (soon to be 31!) year old woman newly living in Central Texas with my awesome husband of 6 years (woo hoo!). Thus far, we are childless, but are baby lusting in the meantime while we build the foundation we feel we need to bring children into this world. We have aspirations of being a work at home family, me with a booming real estate biz with fulltime dreams of being my own urban farmer and helping others with community farms and hubby with his lovely music sites and graphic design. We're getting it done, ya'll.
Right now, we are coming out of a pretty hard summer, on all fronts, health wise, household wise, spiritually, relationship wise, and most of all financially. You know, we were attacked on all sides, basically, but we are STILL.STANDING and Im proud of that. There is so much to be done, I'd love to roll it up all in one post, but I dont wanna bore you on my first post back after being gone for ages, lol.
I hope that this blog doesn't become too scatterbrained because some of the interests I have are REAL traditional food and cooking of said food (this isn't your ordinary and you'll soon see why lol), strength training (it seems most women bloggers are heavy on the cardio, whereas i gravitate to just picking up heavy stuff, lol), entrepreneurship (or anything alluded to escaping and/or reforming the traditional corporate america paradigm), cultivating meaningful relationships, travel (I have yet to set foot overseas as an adult, but have just about been all over the country), and embarking on parenthood (yea, this needs to start happening soon, lol).
At any rate, I hope this post finds you well, whomever and wherever you are and I do look forward to posting more often. :)

Looking toward the end?
Ok, so i had me another weird pregnancy/birth dream the other night in which I was simultaneously waterbirthing alongside Erykah Badu in the same birth pool. It was quite weird and ended in some equally weird breastfeeding montage that was CRAZY real, but I digress. The baby fever is on high these days, lol.
But having said that, i just recently have been looking even further, to the end of my own baby-making days. Ive always pictured myself pregnant or with a newborn or even a toddler, breastfeedng blissfully and changing diapers gleefully and chasing around a lil fluffy butt with babyface resembling my own. But from my many mommy-blog lurkings, ive been curious about life after baby-making and just being a mom to kids. Many mothers feel VERY done after they get their desired number of babies out and others just change their plans altogether after being hit with the hurricane known as parenthood, so they may stop earlier than anticipated. But most mothers seem to be genuinely elated to be done with that part of their lives and to "get their body back".
I wonder what that feels like. I mean, hear me out. All ive ever wanted to DO is to get my body INVADED per a sweet little heavenly cocoa baby, lol. So, to see folks at the point where they're good and ready to NOT be pregnant, ever again, is amazing and I wonder what it will feel like for me. Yea, i know, im so far ahead of myself its not even funny. I havent been anywhere near pregnant and yet here I am wondering what its like to be through with pregnancy and birth.
I mean, on some of the message boards I frequent, some women seem to go through a grieving period and even DREADING the day that they realize their baby-making days are over. They cry over knowing that they will never have that anticipation again, the excitement of trying for a baby, the thrill of realizing their pregnant, having that unspoken connection with a little being growing inside them and then the herculean feat of giving birth and taking care of a little one. They CRY over not having those days anymore. They cry over knowing that the next newborn they cradle may very well be someone else's or even further their own GRANDCHILDREN. Especially if they are on their last pregnancy. They cherish every little bit of it down to the last contraction, ache and baby kick.
I wonder what that will be like for me. Yes, i wonder what it will be like to decide to TTC and to be pregnant and to give birth, but wow, it must be AWESOME to know that, this is it, from here on out, my body belongs to me, Im SET and THIS is my family; we are HERE. These are my kids and my sole focus is to rear them to be the best they can be from here on out, without any real lifestyle changes that a new baby can bring. And then to also know that your body is yours and yours only again. To shape and modify and inebriate (heh) as you please. That must be pretty cool.
Shout out to you mothers out there who are done babymaking! It must feel great and I hope to get there one day.

Aaah, another holiday looms...
Welp, the 4th of July looms every nearer and well, hubby and i have NO PLANS whatsoever. A three day weekend allll to ourselves *imagines my future mama-self wishing she could go back to being present-me*
Is it bad that im really happy i have the freedom* to do what i want, when i want especially during the holidays...but when the holiday actually gets there, I wish I had my own family to share it with? Its a strange dichotomy to live in, you know?
Any holiday that comes up, i get a giddiness that hubby and I will share in slept-in mornings in bed, eat glorious food the way we want and laze the days away and then popping up for our patented late night runs to get junk food. Cant do that with a baby in tow, now can we?
So WHY am I daydreaming about us having kids around whenever a holiday comes around? I visualize us experiencing the holiday through their eyes...taking them on cool discovery trips out of town, waking them up early to fix them a bountiful breakfast, eating good foods throughout the day and then feasting like giggling pigs for dinner, dressing them up in the finest holiday fare and just watching them take it all in. I cant have both, right?
Sometimes i think, cool down chick, this may be the last such and such holiday you have alone. That gives me peace for like, 5 minutes, lol. I dont even know what im being impatient for! lol
At any rate, im just going to imagine that this very well be my last 4th of july pre-kids and that my future mama-self is FIERCELY jealous of present-me right now lol.
Have a safe weekend, everyone!
*there's no real freedom cause we're broke, so we couldnt go out and do anything we wanted even if we wanted to lol

Im still here, lol.
Nothing new here...im still baby lusting, trying to stay positive that come this time next year, we will be gearing up to TTC. So much has to happen between then and now tho. Hubby still has no job, my business is still...sigh..i dunno, i have very little monies to invest in getting it started and hubby's unemployment is about to run out so im feeling really down about it all. We still gotta move (which cant happen until our current lease is up, but still), gotta get some savings going and a baby fund going and i'd like to procure a puppy before we get started (thas a want not a need lol).
So i dunno, im just feeling very blah about it all. Father's day was kinda awkward as i felt some kind of way that hubby still isnt a father and im sure hubby felt some kind of way that he's 32 years old and still not a father. We feel like we're stuck in some of the thickest mud.
But there is a way. There always is a way and we will find it.

ACK!
Aight, i TOLD ya'll i suck at this blogging thing, but ima get better, I promise *puts hand on her heart*
So anyway, I've been dealing with that dreaded, green-eyed monster called....jealousy. Blah. Its SO unlike me. Where'd it come from you ask? Well, i found out a good friend from my recent past is newly pregnant with her and her hubby. I am utterly THRILLED for them because they are such good people and i really do love them dearly. HOWEVER, i think it hit me so bad because...well...she reminds me of me, lol. We are a lot alike in the way we think, act, our lives are sort of similar, etc. On top of the new pregnancy, they just bought a new place (something else hubby and I are working on). So, yea, tho I am happy for them, i did get jealous.
There is just so much to DOO though, i have NO BUSINESS being jealous. Plus, i know that the reason grass seems greener on the side is primarily due to the all the -ahem- fertilizer that was applied to it, you know what im saying? Everything goes through something and im sure that they went through their trials to get to where they are.
But Lord knows *I* can hardly wait to be at that place in my life. It seems SO far away. And i dont make it no better by visiting parenting sites, subscribing to blogs and vlogs about pregnancy, babies and parenting. I mean, i am learning a LOT (at this point, i probably know more about pregnancy, childbirth and babies than most parents out there lol), but I also recognize that it can be a way to "measure" myself up against other people and that's not good.
I try to remind myself that one day I will look back and WISH I was in this place...no kids...no pets, noone to take care of but myself, lots of sleeping in and relaxing and coming and going when i please. Sigh. So WHY do I want to give all of that up?

Ok, ima tell folk RIGHT NOW, im not great at this blogging thing, lol. I have another blog about my business that I barely pay attention to (that will change here soon), but this one will be a little more all inclusive.
So, i asked myself, just what do I want this blog to be about? In my heart of hearts, I want this blog to be about my journey to motherhood. But i know full well that could veer off course or even take a turn, lol. But anywho, until then, I think that's what my focus will be and then I can just fill in the gaps with whatever.
At any rate, to begin where I am, hubby and I just got back from an impromptu night out bowling. Bowling is one our favorite "couple hobbies" and it was a pretty rare event as we are bonified homebodies. However, hubby has been laid off from his job since Feb of this year, just tryin to figure out what to do with himself and he just wanted to get out of the house. So we had good fun and the bowling alley was lovely.
Only thing about it was the alley was chock FULL of families. Including the ones at our lanes. This one little cute girl was so small that she needed the little pre-bowler helper stand that little kids can set their ball on and then it rolls down the stand and into the lane to see how many pins they can aim at. She was SOO cute and hubby cooed over how cute she was (he also didnt know they had bowling contraptions like that for the kids).
So goes how we view kids as of now. They seem to be untouchable...unreachable for us. We want them, but we recognize that right now, we can hardly afford ourselves, let alone a child. So we are waiting (waiting isnt the right word, but working on) for our financial picture to improve. But in the meantime, we coo and awe over the cute kids we see when we are out and how we would parent them and other sappy junk like that.
On one hand, it feels good to know that money is pretty much the only thing stopping us from having kids right now but then it totally SUCKS to know that THAT is the only thing holding us back. But babies need more than love, money keeps the lights on and food in the house, you know? Plus we are dead set on providing our children with a better life than we had.
Meanwhile, i have raging baby fever (tho it can cool from time to time, i'll admit) and all my colleagues and friends are having kids or have long been parents. Hubby and I are late as far as they're concerned. Blah. We have a different timetable, sue us, lol.
Anyway, it was nice to get out...to see what the future may look like too. Felt nice.
